The first thing that employees in any company feels when they hear about an outsourcing deal in their organization is shock and fear. They are shocked that their lives could be changed, now that their livelihoods could be taken over by cheaper labour. They also fear they will not be able to be absorbed back into the labour market and that holds true for those in the above 40 years old range.
So when I saw this new Unilever Outsourcing Deal with IBM that was on released on Cnet News on the eve of Christmas, I thought that its a trend that will continue as long as big multinationals strive to put the cost factor above all in this Global Economy.
There's a light at the end of every tunnel and this holds true in the story of a famous blogger, Duncan Riley from Blogherald.com who lost his job last week in a "restructuring" exercise. He's got to blog more to keep food on his table and pay the mortgage. So all the best to the Unilever staff in the months to come. You could start a blog on how this whole thing is affecting you and make tons of money.
