Checking your Internet Broadband Connection

www.jpgSome simple tips if your broadband connection goes south or dead. Then the next course of action would be to call the company's toll free helpdesk.

- Check your phone line for a dial tone.

- Check cables for a firm connection.

- Turn off the modem and restart the modem and computer to synchronize DSL service.

- Clear temporary files and "cookies" from your computer.

- Check to make sure fax machines, caller ID boxes or phones connected to a DSL phone line have a filter to prevent noise from disrupting the DSL signal.

- Check the lights on the DSL modem to ensure connection between the modem, PC and high-speed service. The power and ready lights should be steady green.

- The modem light for either an Ethernet link or USB link should be solid green to indicate a good connection or blinking to indicate signals between the modem and computer.
