Google may have the largest Linux server farm (100,000 servers) but if some one screws up and types the remove "rm" command (Linux command for delete), it's gonna be a mistake anyway. Let's hope they have a good backup system too.
The Google blog hosted on the Blogger platform at http://googleblog.blogspot.com, was off for a short while last night, and it appeared as though the system was hacked due to vulnerabilities. This is not the case.
Blogger Product Manager, Jason Goldman, has written on the corporate blog that they quickly uncovered that the glitch wasn’t a system wide vulnerability, and that they had mistakenly "deleted" the entire blog. This in turn allowed for another Blogger user to register that space.
