Last week, Nvidia announced the immediate availability of three new GeForce 7-Series processors - the GeForce 7900 GTX, GeForce 7900 GT, and GeForce 7600 GT.
The three new GeForce launches are aimed squarely at mid- to high-end gamers. The new GeForce 7900 GTX model becomes the company's new flagship, while the GeForce 7600 GT graphics processor becomes the new midrange unit -- aimed at appeasing customers looking for a mix of price and performance. The new GeForce 7900 GT comes in somewhere between these two, offering higher-end performance without the big-budget price tag of the 7900 GTX.
Biostar Microtech, Walton Chaintech and Micro-Star International (MSI) also announced on Friday graphics cards based on Nvidia’s GeForce 7900 GT/GTX graphics processing units (GPUs), codenamed G71, with Scalable Link Interface (SLI) multi-GPU technology.
Powered by the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GT GPU, Biostar’s ΣGate VP7903GT22, the Chaintech GAE79GT and MSI NX7900GT all feature 256MB of GDDR3 memory. The Biostar ΣGate VP7903GT52, Chaintech GAE79GTX and MSI NX7900GTX, all based on the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX, support 512MB DDR3 memory and offer dual-DVI and TV-out ports.
The manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRPs) for Chaintech's GAE79GT and GAE79GTX are US$299 and US$449, respectively. Pricing for the Biostar and MSI cards was unavailable at time of publication.
