Linux is a Business. Part 1

The March Madness Guest Blogger Contest officially starts Monday, March 27 to Sunday, April 2, 2006, on the KMM network and I've managed to enlist some International Guest Bloggers to help me write some great articles. First up is my colleague who's on the shy side and only wants to be known as Ashterix (see below)

Ten years ago a friend of mine showed me installation of this "unix_like_new_operating_system" using floppy disks and at that moment I was not interested at all & didnt even bother! But a year after that, another friend of mine handed over to me a cd of this ""unix_like_new_operating_system". It was RedHat Linux version 5.2 and from that moment I fell in love with this "unix_like_new_operating_system" aka LINUX even though at first I'm having a really hard time to get it running & configured.

Now, LINUX is been used & accepted by all around the globe. If you take a look into any data centers, I can bet there must be a LINUX server inside. Not just that, LINUX now can be found in other things that you can't think of, start from you smallest gadget such as usb thumb drive, watch or mobile phone till up to high performance computing or clusters, and of course in software business. Plus now LINUX is getting plenty of support by big companies such as Intel, AMD, IBM, Oracle, just to name a few.

In the recent news, even the giant Microsoft get their feets cold with the rise of LINUX. Microsoft is under pressure to lift sales as IBM introduces similar products and invests in the Linux operating system to rival Windows......Microsoft is fighting IBM and Linux in business software .
