Skype has been a great tool to do small Web Conferences of 5-10 people. Today it got better. Together with the upgrade to it’s flagship service Skype today has announced a preview new moderated Skypecast Web Conferencing service.
The service will allow the groups of up to 100 persons to do a live Web Conferences through their Skype client software. These Skypecast Web Conferences will be moderated events where various communities can meet and discuss their shared interests.
How does Skypecast Web Conferencing service work ?
A person hosting the event will have to schedule a Skypecast Web Conference on Skype site and announce it to interested participants. Members of the community then will be able to register and participate in the live Web Conference. The host will become a Web Conference moderator who is able pass “virtual microphone” to participants, mute, eject or encourage conversations.
