Government bureaucracy really pisses me off and I always perceived it as underworked and overpaid bunch of paper pushers. It must be GOD-sent that Google has done something about this by launching a new Google US Government Search site which makes it easier and faster to look for information on US federal, state and local government. Google is really making themselves busy as they also launched a search engine devoted to Shakespeare this week.
For example, a search of the word "highway" on the site returned links to the Federal Highway Administration and the California Highway Patrol. Another for "Iraq" returned links to Library of Congress documents and The World Factbook, a collection of country profiles published annually by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Even one on "california DMV" brings up the DMV URL on the right side and its better than all the fluff via search results.
The Google's US Government Search site can be personalised and also offers news from the White House, the armed forces and even provides a weather report for Washington, DC.
Summary features of the Google's US Government Search site
1) search across a huge index of U.S. Federal, state and local government websites on a single search box
2) stay up to date through personalized content feeds from government agencies and press outlets.
