ashterix is one of my Guest Bloggers back in March 2006 and he finally got one of his Blog posts listed in Newsforge today. Check it out as I'm real happy for him! I respect him as his Linux scripting skills are pretty fine.as a unix/linux system admin, my main text editor is vi/vim, since it is available in most of the unixes. still remember when i first started using it, not really an easy job man! but now i'm quite comfortable with it and would like to share my top 10 tips when dealing with this editor, in no particular order:
I am mostly using Emacs these days although I float back and forth between Emacs and Vim.
I have to say that probably my all-time favorite Vim tip is the . (period) command, which repeats the last thing you did, such as deleting, replacing a word, etc. Really, really handy!
