Thinkfree is a great Web 2.0 site that lets you upload, share or edit your Microsoft Office files. I've tried editing Excel and Word docs on it that runs on Java applets and its pretty nifty since my Office Application is a bit screwy the last fews days. Now, on July 14, 2006 they announced that they now have launched ThinkFree Server Edition, a web-based, server hosted office suite that allows users to create new word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation files or edit existing Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint files from any computer without ever having to buy Microsoft software.
ThinkFree Server Edition will charge $30 per user per year and that's pretty low TCO (total costs of ownership) for businesses. ThinkFree Server Edition runs within a Web browser on the desktop computer connected to the server via a LAN or Internet connection. So better buck up those 10MB switches and get Gigabit ones in pronto!
