I hate to pay for software. With OpenOffice (open source) running smoothly on my PC and able to open Microsoft Excel
and Words files, it’s difficult to find an excuse to spend money on beta software, now that everything on earth has gone up in price due to increasing oil prices. So it baffles me as to why I need to pay USD 25 to sign up as a member just to download NeoOffice 2.0 Beta when the current full release is FREE. Give me OpenOffice anytime and may the Server GODS also rain down lightning on Microsoft for charging USD 1.50 for its Office 2007 Beta 2 downloads.
According to the website, the software suite is available through the NeoOffice Early Access Program. Users must pay a membership fee to join. Currently, the price to join is $25 USD, but after August 15th, the price drops down to $10. For a full subscription to NeoOffice Beta 2 and higher, users must pay $60. The current full release of NeoOffice is available free of charge, and version 2.0 Alpha 4 is also available free of charge.
