IBM’s Lotus Notes now runs on Linux
Linux lovers rejoice! The open source software is gaining wider market appeal now that IBM has introduced a version of Lotus Notes that runs on the PCs using the Linux operating system last month. Lotus Notes, the popular collaboration and e-mail software, has operated on Windowsibm-0op.jpg machines for 16 years and Apple's Macintosh computers for more than a decade, said Ed Brill, IBM's Chicago-based Lotus strategy executive. Nonetheless, Lotus Notes certified engineers are scarse compared to Microsoft Exchange ones but hopefully the trend will take a big turn now.
