Microsoft has unleashed the latest Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) version for Windows XP as Release Candidate 1. The official release of IE7 is slated to be shipped during the last quarter of 2006 far earlier than Windows Vista's planned date. Tony Chor, Group Program Manager,
the Internet Explorer team, reaffirmed in a telephone interview with Computerworld that Microsoft intends to release new versions of Internet Explorer every 12 to 18 months. Now that's nerve racking even for a senior user for me. I'll be sticking to my Firefox for daily use, thank you.
Judging from the earlier beta 3 that I downloaded, the tab functions and anti-phishing filter has proven pretty useful in keep my personal details intact.
IE7 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) is available for download from Microsoft. For more information about Internet Explorer 7's new features, visit Microsoft's IE site.
What does IE7 Release Candidate 1 have for you ?
IE7 RC1 is a bug-fix/refinement revision. Microsoft's IE7 Beta 3, released on June 29, arrived with a modest set of tweaks. There's very little new in this release. Microsoft added French and Spanish-language versions, and IE7 RC1's setup program automatically uninstalls previous installations of IE7 Beta 1, Beta 2 and Beta 3. The installation program is also able carry over user settings from previous IE7 installations.
