The new Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0 Alpha 1 email client is now available for download and it is available on the Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X platforms.
The Thunderbird 2.0 Alpha 1, is suitable for developers only, Mozilla said on its Web site, but it does not stop any other person from downloading it for a try. Well, you know how they treat Beta software. As long as its free, who cares. According to Mozilla's roadmap for Thunderbird 2.0, the alpha will be followed by a beta in late August 2006, one or more release candidates in the fall, and a final in "late fall 2006." Now isn't that darn hard to keep track ? You'll need a PDA for reminders.
Some new features on his new email client are message tagging, enhanced mail notification alerts, updates to the program's extension model, and a "Conversations" view mode (similar to the grouping used in Google's Gmail).
