Windows Vista lets you Undelete Now

Here’s a new Vista feature that just got published in a Microsoft TechNet entry here but I wouldn’t call it ground breaking as Nortonvista3images.jpg has been having this function a looooooooong time already even before all this Vista fanfare albeit in a simpler fashion.

An undelete system based on that of Windows Server 2003's versioning file system, should ship with the final release of Windows Vista in the 2007. The technology, which is automatically switched on in Vista, is called 'volume shadow copy' and Vista users will see it appear under the 'previous versions' banner. Its pretty easy to use and it maintains backups of older versions of files when you edit and save a new version, similar to .bak files that litter your system, but presents users with a usable interface to manage the previous backups. Accidentally deletes will never be the same and your boss will thank you for it.
