Here's something that's bound to make wireless providers go crazy. Choosing the right technology to deploy can be a pain when you certain limiting factors like Time and Cost. Just look at the state of Blu-ray and HD-DVD. Its bound to confuse consumers out there but luckily some manufacturers are coming out with hybrid devices.

Back to the wireless matter at hand....To choose Wifi mesh or WiMax ?

Intel has ploughed millions in WiMax and there's even a big testing rollout being done in Malaysia right now. But I doubt we'll see any real world use until 2Q 2007. Wifi mesh is a better bet for wireless or internet players as there's already millions of WiFi rollouts in Starbucks and around the world already. So which one will dominate the market ?

This telecomweb survey shows that it could go both ends as the technology needs more market share and new tie-ups to get the ball rolling. In the end, users just want what works best. And that means solving the last mile problems that exist in the exploding wireless broadband market around the world.
