Laurent is only handle by 8 staff and Linksys has been using them to develope their software solutions. This software covered features such as anti-virus, firewall, content filtering, quality of service, device management, and TCP/IP routing. The company's customers included Linksys, 3Com, D-Link, Texas Instruments, and AMD.Vice President and General Manager of Linksys' business division, Malachy Moynihan, said the 8 employees of Ashley Laurent will retain their jobs, but will be moving offices, though they'll be staying in Austin, Texas. He also outlined how the acquisition is to allow the company to cut back on the amount of software it outsources to other companies and an opportunity to increase the functionality included in its broadband gateways. Linksys sees broadband evolving from primarily a Web-browsing tool into a "triple-play" or "quad-play" service that may include TV, telephone, data, and mobile services.
