Pay Cuts for Microsoft Top Executives
This is not good. Microsoft has given Bill Gates and its Chief Executive Officer, Steve Ballmer a pay cut. This is in respond to lower profits at the Redmond company and its supposed to be setting a good example to show the management can take responsibility, said Tony Ursillo, who helps manage $75 billion in investments, including Microsoft shares, at Loomis, Sayles & Co. in Boston. This pay cut for them is the first time in at least six years.

So how much did this top guns lose ? Gates and Ballmer, both 50, each earned $616,667 in salary and had their bonuses cut 13 percent to $350,000. Now that's peanuts to the richest man in the world. He'll just need to stop buying all those

Ferraris.

Why has the profits dwindled ? It seem the problem lies in Microsoft as it spends more to get the Xbox video-game console in stores and endured delays for the release of the Vista version of the Windows operating system. The company's stock fell 6.2 percent during the fiscal year, compared with a 6.6 percent gain for the S&P 500 Index.
