You might not heard of Shawn Fanning before, but I am sure most of us would know the P2P music sharing application, Napster. Well, he was the owner of
Napster before he sold it. He have been working on a project to make friends with musicians, in Snocap who has partnered with Myspace to make their music store available to Myspace music artists not too long ago.
And now, he is working on another one new project right now, that he called Rupture. There's a story about how he came up with this whole Rupture idea. It all started after he sold Napster. Shawn immediately got a copy of the World of Warcraft. He noticed that it’s hard to communicate with other players. So, he have came up with a new social networking site especially for WoW fanatic players like him that he called Rupture. He actually made Rupture so that it will tap into the game to automatically pull together character names, profiles, and resources, and publish them on a personalized site for each players. Rupture will also pull together stats to create individual and guild rankings and provide a place for guilds to organize their playing.
Players also will be able to chat in groups or with other individuals and download other add-ons and game demos that are available. So, if you consider yourself as a hardcore WoW fans, then you would agree with me when I say Myspace is crappy and is not for you. I am sure you will have more fun to mingle around with people that have the same passion with you. Rupture is still not being released for the masses of WoW players, but you can always opt for a notification once they are ready for qualified players. If this project is going to be successful, it would be realistic for us to expect more similar social networking sites that are created based on any online gaming community that are already exist.
