A 45 year old California man Jeffrey Goodin was found guilty of operating a sophisticated phishing scheme by a jury in the US District Court for central District of California, Los Angeles. To operate the scam, he sent e-mails acting as a representative from the AOL's billing department and conning people to give their credit card information. Eventually he used the credit card numbers to make purchases, according to the prosecutors. This particular crime known as Phishing is a prevalent online threat. And perpetrators often flee after such crimes since their identities are undisclosed. Acording to the jury this is the first conviction made under the Can-Spam act of 2003.
