Finally AMD wins at higher frequency as opposing to Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors. The new Athlon 64 is clock at 3.0 ghz. Tests results however are not very
optimistic. Even though it is clocked at a higher frequency it still loses out to Intel Core 2 Duo processors and are only slightly faster than Intel’s lower clocked processor. Overall it’s not a Core 2 Duo killer but just tagging along and going with the flow. Overclocking potential is also not something to boast about. Tests shows that it can only be overclocked to 3.2 ghz without losing any stability. Unless AMD comes out with a new core to match Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor, it is hard to imagine that AMD can win this time around. Before Core 2 Duo, AMD use to beat Intel with lower frequency but better architecture. Intel manages to fight back by introducing Core 2 Duo.
