Future of personal computing

What will be computing like in 10 years from now? Will it still be the same? Taking a look at how people are using computers we can conclude that there are quite a number of people that are not using much of their computer processing power. Applications that they use are not so system demanding. Don’t get me wrong by saying that there are no applications that are system hogs. Anything to do with pictures, media, graphics and 3D are all very system intensive. Gaming consoles are selling like hot cakes making computers look somewhat irrelevant for gamers.

Will it replace computers? It is hard to predict but in the end of the day, the winner might be Google. Google is looking to develop a distributed computing future. In simple terms it is trying to connect all the computing power from all the computers and processors connected via fiber. They are so called virtual machines. How will these virtual machines live up to its standard? Only time will tell. Let’s look forward to a new era of personal computing.
