Google targets Microsoft in Desktop Wars
Google starts off as an online search engine. Now they plan to expand their business and displace Microsoft as the desktop application provider of choice in corporate America by offering a range of low cost, zero maintenance software that office workers can access through the internet. Users now can access and open their documents on any computer without the need to install software as Google will make its software web base. Google might just get a large share of the market with its new hype. The new service is offered at $50 for the full package. That is 8 times cheaper than Miocrosoft Office 2007 Profesional Edition. However Google doesn’t offer as complete productivity as Microsoft Office. Advance users might find it lacking in some area but for casual users, it is sufficient. Microsoft is responding to Google's online push with a Web strategy of its own called Windows Live.
