In a recent interview with CNET News.com, Symantec CEO John Thompson warns against viewing Windows Vista as a solution for security woes. Symantec is planning to release its new flagship security tool, Norton 360 in the coming weeks. According to Thompson, Vista is not a security solution but merely an operating system which
provides some very important advances from Microsoft’s perspective and a more stable system in the industry view point. At a recent Demo conference, Symantec shows off a new product, Norton Identity Manager that helps consumer to safe guard their confidential information from being leaked out during an online transaction.
Things doesn’t look to bright for Symantec as well as Microsoft, EMC, IBM, Oracle and Cisco Systems are all eyeing parts of Symantec business. However, Thompson also claims that Symantec is fearless. He claims that a company that doesn’t have a technology portfolio and doesn’t have the same human capital investment cannot
compete with Symantec.
