The cost has gone down from $10,000,000 per GB in 1956 to less than $1 per GB now with consumers purchasing a total of 739.7 million GB of storage last year. The amount of data is projected to grow from 161 exabytes in 2006 to 988 exabytes in 2010. 1 exabyte is 1 million terabytes. Just imagine how much things has change and the pace of development today. Going just one year without updating yourself and you will be left very much behind the pack.
