The much awaited Apple TV has finally come into the market. There has been a long wait plagued by numerous delays. The sale started yesterday with its price retailing at $300. Apple TV comes slightly late into the market with plenty of companies
already offering similar devices. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Netgear’s EVA 8000 are some of the other devices that performs similar bridging functions. Xbox 360 has its own online movie store and EVA 8000 comes with Internet connection for viewing YouTube videos. The sad thing is Apple TV requires a widescreen TV, HDTV is recommended, and it does not work with the traditional square TV that most of us have. For those wondering what this new product is all about, it can be simplified by saying that Apple TV is an iPod for the TV. Apple TV is an interesting product but feature wise, it cannot compete with Xbox 360 and EVA 8000. Apple might consider updating Apple TV with new features made available in the near future to compete in the market.
