Gone are the days when Microsoft can sit there quietly and feel safe of their products as there will definitely be someone buying it. The dominant PC software vendor is facing a new battle. With new operating systems coming into play and open source software, they will need a better plan. Back in the 1990’a Microsoft monopolize almost all operating system markets. New PC are almost always shipped with an installed version of Windows. Pc of today will be different as users are more aware and most buy new PC without any pre-installed software. Mac OS X is somehow different. It comes bundled with Apple PC. Somehow Mac OS X is synonymous to Apple base PC but Windows are no longer the only operating system running in IBM compatible Pc’s. Will Apple take over from Microsoft as the leading operating system vendor? It will all depends on how their new operating system is doing. At the moment Windows Vista is not doing so well.
