Slacker music ecosystem is a new service offered by Broadband Instruments consisting of a service online service, a portable device that downloads content from Wi Fi networks and a different type of satellites than what XM and Sirius is using. Some of the details have been made available. They will lease Ku-band satellite bandwidth to offer user several channels. Users of this new product will be able to listen, create and modify channels online through their website at Slacker.com for free. There are some limitations though with the free service. Broadband Instruments will launch a $7.50 per month plan soon that removes all the limitations. As for the player it is nicely design with 4” screen. The player will cost ranging from $150 to $300 depending on the amount of memory available. It looks more or less like a standard mp4 player but it is packed with lots of functions.
