Come April 2007, there will be a new technology out there offered under the name of Joyent Slingshot. It will be available for both Windows and Mac users. This new technology will allow developers to develop Rail applications that will work the same both online and offline. What makes it so special is that the application can run on both Windows and Mac. The succeeded in removing all issues with dependencies, and conflicts with system binaries. Joyent Slingshot acts like a virtual machine for the applications to run on. It will be possible now to develop one program to run on both Mac and Windows rather than the traditional way of offering two programs for two separate operating systems. They are currently looking for early release testers to test their system. Rail developers with an application that will help Joyent Slingshot are invited to try out. Let’s wait and see how interesting this new feature can be.
