
Last.fm is a popular music website. It plans to apply its social recommendation
technology to video in its effort to battle Pandora for the internet radio station market. It is now working on a music video equivalent to its Audioscrobbler software. Last.fm is one of the very few Web 2.0 success stories. It has only one aim which is to succeed in what Yahoo has failed to do and on something which Google doesn’t even bother. The software will register musicplay into users profiles and its own database to keep track of what certain user will like. This will be a big challenge to Pandora in the battle for web base market. The only downside for Last.fm comparing to Pandora is that Last.fm requires user to download and install a certain software. they might want to get rid of this and makes everything web base. The battle has begun so let’s see what Pandora has to answer this new threat.
