The number of malwares keeps increasing today. There is a surprising trend for it or
rather shocking. There are about 236,000 malwares out there but only 7 affect Mac OS X. It is not because Mac OS X is a perfect flawless application since Apple’s most recent update for it fixed more than 30 security flaws. As oppose to Windows which has numerous malware being targeted at it, Mac OS X remains relatively docile to malware attacks. A simple explanation maybe because Windows is the most dominant Operating System in the market and malware authors prefer to target them rather than other Operating Systems because chances are higher that they will succeed in achieving their objective. It does not mean that Mac OS X is more secure but it is that Mac OS X is not so dominant. It is estimated that they hold about 5% of the market share.
