Microsoft’s very own video sharing site, Soapbox is closed for new users for up to 2 months for upgrading. Microsoft realizes the seriousness of piracy and is closing its site to upgrade to provide a better protection against pirated contents. New subscribers will not be able to access the sites but current subscribers will still be able to access it. With the recent issue surrounding YouTube Microsoft is keen to avoid the same fate. To counter this issue, Microsoft has license technology from Audible Magic to prevent upload of copyrighted videos. Industry has been viewing copyrighted issue with great concern and Microsoft is not left out. They are trying their best to do what they can to prevent it. The main reason might be to prevent any lawsuit but still it is a commendable effort much better than other sites though. For users who are interested to sign up, there is nothing much that can be done but to wait 2 months for the service to reopen.
