New Yorker Fraud with Wikipedia
There is a scandal surrounding Wikipedia where Wikipedia administrator and now employee “Essjay” / Ryan Jordan pretended to be a tenured  professor of religion at a private university. With a Ph. D. in theology and a degree in canon law.  Some of the anger directed to him might be a bit too much. The qualification that Essjay / Ryan Jordan posted might be what he wished to be as a child. Might be his greatest dream. He can only realize it in Wikipedia. There are not much harm being caused. Articles in Wikipedia cannot be regarded as Academically respectable. Some of its articles are undeniably good. There are also a number of articles that cannot be trusted blindly. More research has to be carried out. No doubt it is easy to find articles of almost any kind in Wikipedia, but anyone can post articles in it. Maybe Wikipedia can consider tightening the conditions to make its article more academically respectable.
