Websense Security Labs has discovered a new set of malicious code which is a variant of Warezov/Stration. The code is currently spreading via Skype. The code will mass message everyone in the affected user’s contact list with a message, “Check out this” and an URL containing a link to a site. The link will download a file to the user computer. Once installed it will try to connect to Yahoo mail server to send SMTP messages. A same variant is widely seen affecting MSN users. To prevent this, user have to be more conscious and do not download or accept any files that looks suspicious even if it is from their friends. Get a confirmation before downloading or installing anything. An up to date antivirus software may also detect this file. I have seen a number of affected users and cleaning is not very hard. Anyway prevention is still better than cure.
