Windows Vista banned from National Institute of Standards and Technology

National Institute of Standards and Technology has banned Windows Vista from its internal computing network. No details as to why this ban is enforced. This is another major setback for Microsoft after US Department of Transportation and The Federal Aviation Administration has similarly banned Windows Vista as well as Office 2007 and Internet Explorer 7. They express concerns that Windows Vista might not be compatible with the softwares they are currently running now. It is known issue that Windows Vista needs driver specially written for them and the driver are not so easily available especially for old hardware. Microsoft might have to ponder this issue and offer a solution for it so that the sale can pick up steam. Personally I also refrain from upgrading to Windows Vista not because my hardware could not meet the requirements but it is because of the difficulty to obtain drivers. Some also express security concern in Windows Vista.
