Viacom confirmed that they will be suing YouTube for $1 billion in damages as well as an injunction prohibiting YouTube from further copyright infringement. This is the latest development between the case of Viacom and YouTube. Viacom is blaming YouTube of making a profit from their hard work. They might settle out of court but all is yet to be decided. Viacom a prominent and respected global leading entertainment company is putting all the blame on Google and YouTube for not doing enough to curb this problem. Viacom is forced to sue after a great deal of negotiation with Google and YouTube failed to reach an agreement. This is the first case that Google has got itself into after acquiring YouTube. Google’s acquisition might not be that profitable after all. They should have been more strict on copyrighted materials and prevent them from being publish instead of removing amateur videos.
