Last week I posted an article "Is Windows XP Still An Option?" regarding Microsoft providing customers with an option to downgrade certain versions of their de facto standard operating system (Windows Vista) on all new PCs, to Windows XP. This was a relief to many users not ready to make the switch to Vista.![]()
Now, I just read a post on TechRepublic, that Microsoft has gone and extended the availability date for Windows XP six months from January 30th, 2008 to June 30th. I can breathe a little easier now because we were just wondering when we needed to start testing Windows Vista for deployment. Ah, the blue skies and green fields...
This may not be a permanent stay of execution, but at least I've got some wiggle room now to accommodate testing, so we can start ironing out the bugs and software/hardware compatibility issues I know will arise.
Have you already tested or deployed Vista in the workplace? If so, have you tested/deployed the Business or Ultimate edition? Have you come across any "gotchas" you would like to share?
