I just read a pretty funny post on The Register titled 419er fears unsolicited intergalactic email and while it was pretty goofy, it did offer a great way to identify most 419-related scam e-mail; the very poor grammar, misspelling or incorrect use of some words:
"Dear Sir,
I am a solicitor and I am the personal attorney to late Mr Alex Lee. I am writing you to receive this funds 9.5m$ before it is seized by the bank where the funds is deposited.
Due to intergalactic and unsolicited email. I will advise that we discurse vivdly on phone. Please write me your phone number for more discursion. (eric111kone@yahoo.com) or call me + 23 417 238 107.Best Regards, E. Kone, Esq"
I didn't even know that extraterrestrials had gotten into the spam business and that this was still only a problem on the big blue marble. Oh well, this just reminds everyone to be wary of unsolicited e-mail and if it sounds too good to be true (a chunk of $9.5 Million in this case), it probably is. Delete it and move on to the e-mail from your loved ones.
