
Ashley Laurent, a provider of software primarily for DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) gateway devices has hit the motherload by being bought out by Linksys. Ashley
Vice President and General Manager of Linksys' business division, Malachy Moynihan, said the 8 employees of Ashley Laurent will retain their jobs, but will be moving offices, though they'll be staying in Austin, Texas. He also outlined how the acquisition is to allow the company to cut back on the amount of software it outsources to other companies and an opportunity to increase the functionality included in its broadband gateways. Linksys sees broadband evolving from primarily a Web-browsing tool into a "triple-play" or "quad-play" service that may include TV, telephone, data, and mobile services.
